Cobalt-chrome, nickel-based alloys and medical steels

CoCr: They are characterized by particularly high hardness and high ductility. They are corrosion resistant and have good biocompatibility. Cobalt-chrome materials are used in dental technology and medical technology. They have a higher stiffness than titanium and stainless steel.

NiCr: Nickel-based alloys are high-temperature and corrosion-resistant materials. They usually contain chromium, iron, niobium and molybdenum and are often referred to as super alloys. They are used in the aerospace industry, in turbine construction and in tool making. Operating temperatures of up to 1200°C are possible.

CrNiMo: So-called medical steels are special stainless alloys for surgical instruments or for implant devices. Mostly they are multi-vacuum-arc melted alloys with low carbon content. Chemical modifications maximize corrosion resistance and provide a ferrite-free microstructure (e.g. AISI 316LS, etc.).
